Deepa Shinde is passionate about research and innovation—bridging the gap between groundbreaking ideas and real-world impact. Her mission is to help researchers, scientists, and institutions accelerate discovery by pairing rigorous governance with usable AI and quantum-aware architectures, aligned with Microsoft’s vision to empower every person and organisation on the planet to achieve more.
Currently she serves as Senior Director, Industry Advisor – Research & Innovation (EMEA) at Microsoft, leading strategy and engagement across universities, research institutes, and national labs. She focuses on turning complex scientific breakthroughs into practical solutions that transform industries and improve lives - whether through AI for Science, Quantum Computing, Responsible AI, or FAIR/Open Science initiatives.
With over 24+ years of experience spanning STEM teaching, software engineering, enterprise architecture, and AI/ML innovation, she has partnered with global R&D leaders to deliver transformative programmes.
Outside of work, Deepa enjoys exploring the science of harmonising body, mind, and breath through Yoga and Pranayama, and is formally training in Indian Classical singing. Based near London, Deepa loves spending time with her family and discovering new intersections between science and art.
